Remembering Appa

- Karthik Gurumurthy

It has been two years since you left us. When I say, left us, I mean your mighty physical presence. I know you are always with and within us in guiding us. We all definitely miss your physical presence. The best way to honor you is to follow what you have taught us and set a good example making each day count. Success is after all, how many people are better off because you lived. It would have been wonderful if you had stayed longer . All of us come with an invisible shelf life. We just have to make the best use of the cards we are dealt with and make each day count towards something great. Thank you Appa for being there with us all the time and guiding us through all the issues. We miss you big time Guruji. We love you Appa-:)

Learning from a protege

-Karthik Gurumurthy

Funny thing about being a mentor - you think you're just helping someone else, but you end up learning a ton yourself! It's like when a younger colleague asks you "Why do you do things this way?" and suddenly you have to stop and really think about it.

It's almost like teaching forces you to be your own detective. You start digging into why you make certain decisions, what rules you've been following without even realizing it, and what's really going on in your head when you tackle problems. Having to explain your thought process out loud is like getting a second chance to understand yourself better.

Think of it as going back through your own playbook, but this time with fresh eyes. While you're helping your mentee navigate their career, you're also getting clearer about your own approach. It's this double-learning thing that can turn good managers into rock stars at what they do.

So yeah, while you're dropping wisdom on your mentee, you're also leveling up your own game. Pretty sweet deal, right?
