You have heard the announcement havent you. There is a lump in my throat even as I read the words. 'Golden voice Ameen Sayani no more'.
What an influence he was on those of us who grew up in the 1960s to 1980s era! Binaca Geetmala! Bournvita Quiz Contest! What felicity and elegance of expression! Learnt all the lovely Hindi film songs listening to his presentations. Used to wait every week to listen to the lively insights he gave in his sonorous voice. His memories will continue to crop up ,each time we hear a song. Atma Shanti
End of an era.
So sad! Not one of my vintage ever missed the Wednesday's Binaca geet mala. A small part of my growing years died today.

A great loss to the world of radio. His presentation on Radio Ceylon and Binaca Geet Mala was unparalleled. We grew up listening to Ameen Sahab and his voice which is immortal still echoes in our ears.
May Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace. 🙏🌷🌺🌷

Ohh, loss of an era! Those were the days. They cannot be replicated. And absolutely agree they don’t make them anymore. He made the world a better place.
